Durango Roller Girls to host a clinic and a celebration
Coming off their 191-100 defeat to the Ark Valley Rollergirls on Sept. 6 in Salida, the Durango Roller Girls have a clinic, a fundraiser and a season-ending match coming up against the Crossroads City Derby in Albuquerque.
The newly accredited DRG will host a Roller Derby 101 and 102 clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Chapman Hill. The clinic will teach the basics of skating and what it takes to play roller derby.
Recruitment closes in October.
The DRG will host a celebration and fundraiser Sept. 27 at the Billy Goat Saloon in Gem Village. The celebration regards the team’s official status as a Women’s Flat Track Derby Association member, which now globally recognizes the DRG as a competitive league. The fundraiser will start at 5 p.m., featuring family-friendly autographs, a free DRG mug and merchandise sales. At 7 p.m., Powertribe will provide live music; the admission is $5.
The DRG will play the Crossroads City Derby Sucias from Las Cruces on Oct. 4 on neutral ground in Albuquerque.
