Two Vallecito groups, Christmas at Vallecito and the Vallecito Conservation and Sporting Association, joined to help Project Merry Christmas and the Southwest Safehouse.
Southwest Ag donated a new Honda snowblower for the effort. Volunteers from Christmas at Vallecito collected donations from locals, and the snowblower was given away at the Jan. 16 annual potluck for the sporting association, held at the Lake House. Marette and Jesse Swan, two new residents of Vallecito, were thrilled to win it. The proceeds were divided equally between the two groups.
Gary Hillyer of Southwest Ag was on hand for the drawing. Christmas at Vallecito organizes the area's holiday festival in December, while the sporting association runs the marina and supports other hunting and fishing activities in the area.
