Tests are often rife with errors

Often I volunteer in my daughter’s third-grade class at Needham Elementary. Recently, her class had a test using the Pearson Realize program. I found the test had corrections and typos.

This confused the students and made me cringe in frustration for our kids. How can the district ask the students to test when, often, the tests have errors themselves?

I see the need for one-on-one, teacher-student help/contact. Students need teachers to teach them in a nonstressful school setting. Our kids are asked to test all the time, and teachers have no time to teach them the proper curriculum or to keep up with all the testing.

I’m writing in an effort to express my deep concern about all the testing that our kids are required to take in our district. After all, how can we expect our children to test well when the test itself has mistakes?

I’m speaking on behalf of all our smart, kind and hardworking children. I’m a concerned mother of three children who are all enrolled in our 9-R school district. I never thought I would say this, but the thought of private school or even home schooling my kids has become more appealing. How much testing do our kids need? Enough is enough!
