Things to do in and around Durango

Million Dollar Highway Band is familyHaving a band member or two in the family is neat, but having an actual family band is really cool, which is why you should check out Million Dollar Highway this weekend.

With the exception of a family friend – John Staten on guitar and vocals – the other three members are fam: dad Garrett Valencia is on guitar and vocals; son Wes Valencia is on drums; and daughter Tasha Valencia plays bass. They play country, classic rock and Spanish – whatever the evening needs.

You can catch the band from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Upper East Side Liquors’ customer appreciation day.

A.J. Croce coming to DurangoHelp celebrate the season finale of the Community Concert Hall at Fort lewis College with“Croce: Two Generations of American Music.”

Taking the stage will be A.J. Croce, son of legendary Jim Croce, and a talented singer-songwriter in his own right.

This is going to be a special performance – A.J. will perform not only his own songs, but those of his father and songs that influenced them both. Along with the music, a multimedia presentation about Jim will be projected behind the band.

The show will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Tickets are $29/$39 and are available at www.durangoconcerts.com, by phone at 247-7657 or swing by the ticket office inside the Welcome Center at Eighth Street and Main Avenue.
