Tyrell Williams of Ignacio, a second generation Colorado Young Farmer representing the Southwest Chapter, has been elected to lead the organization during the 2015-2016 year.

Williams was elected during the 46th Colorado Young Farmer Educational Association State Institute held in Loveland in February. More than 200 people attended the activities, which included business sessions, a trade show, industry tours, social activities, contests, entertainment, award ceremonies and the election of new officers.

Following the business session, members and their guests boarded buses to travel to Greeley to tour Leprino Foods. Plant Manager Steve Fritzler provided a very informative and educational program about the cheese manufacturing industry followed by a walking tour through every part of the plant. The group also toured 4 Rivers Equipment in Greeley where it had lunch and heard an educational presentation about entitled "ISG Integrated Group" presented by Chad Pfitzer. Later, the group heard a special presentation geared for Colorado Young Farmers and agriculture educators entitled "A Call for Action" given by Dr. Kellie Enns, Nathan Clark and Dr. Mike Martin from Colorado State University.

There was no shortage of fun at this year's Institute. A Kentucky Derby themed dinner and social had members in costumes doing horse races, barrel races and playing horseshoes. The 2015 Institute ended with the annual awards banquet and induction of new officers.
