And the West is History

100 years ago: Classified for sale advertisements included a side board, china closet, dining room table, typewriter desks, a new heating stove, single and double beds, small tables, kitchen tables and “few other articles at a bargain” from K.M. Murray, “Phone Durango 278.”

75 years ago: Spring began to show in Durango as farmers and residential gardeners noticed snow was melting on Smelter Mountain.

50 years ago: A nationwide survey showed that people wanted advertising in newspapers more than in any other medium.

25 years ago: A drunken man was found passed out on the bags of fertilizer in the parking lot of South City Market. Police took him to detox.
