100 years ago: “J.S. Eldredge came up from the Sunset Lumber Company’s mill with the hide of a coyote on which he collected the regular bounty at the county treasurer’s office.”

75 years ago: “Never was a governor more cordially received than was Gov. Ralph Carr at Durango at the banquet tendered in his honor by the La Plata County Republican Women’s Club. 200 plates were served and the program was broadcast.”

50 years ago: “A four-way signal is in operation at the corner of Main Avenue and 22nd Street. The overhead lights are augmented by ‘walk’ and ‘don’t walk’ signs at the cross walks. This is the second recent signal installation. The first was installed at Main Avenue and 17th Street.”

25 years ago: “One prison term was handed down in connection with a trio of men convicted of operating a marijuana farm near Allison. The other two received jail time and probation. ... Durango Police and La Plata County Sheriff’s deputies confiscated 130 marijuana plants and about 10 pounds of processed marijuana in a drug raid Nov. 3, 1988.”
