50 years ago: “Durango High School, as everyone knew it would, showed the biggest increase in enrollment when 853 students registered. Last year on the first day of school 750 students registered at Durango High School.”

25 years ago: “Increased revenues contributed to a July profit for La Plata Community Hospital. The hospital made $9,229 in July after a tax subsidy of $48,357. The profit brings the total loss for the year to $42,268 after a $338,499 tax contribution. July is the fifth month this year the hospital has recorded a profit.”
