75 years ago: “An unusual dinner was served to 18 guests of Mrs. Winifred Culhane and her son, Vernon Culhane, at their ranch near Falfa. The guest were taken to the beehives where they watched the bees at work, and then to the packing plant where the honey is extracted and packed for shipment. Returning to the house they found dinner ready, a dinner unusual in that every item on the menu included the use of honey.”

50 years ago: SILVERTON – “Silverton is being used as the base for a United States Geological Survey crew which is measuring the height of each of the Needle Mountains, making six new 7½ minute topographic maps and comparing a tablet survey mark for Silverton.

25 years ago: “The issues and problems surrounding off-campus student housing are not easily defined or resolved, but a new task force made up of college and city representatives will soon be tackling the topic. The issue of student housing in residential areas of the city has pushed to the forefront of housing issues in general.
