Please be aware that the deer dating game is in full swing. The “boys” are totally enamored, closely following their prospective mates like lovestruck teenagers. They hardly pay attention to dangers that may be close because they are so focused on potential lady loves.

Drivers should be more aware than usual because “the guys” are taking chances they wouldn’t ordinarily take. I recently also witnessed a jousting match between a fully mature buck and an upstart spike that was trying to challenge his elder.

Just wanted to encourage you to be even more vigilant and to be alert.

We are very fortunate to be able to live in close contact with area wildlife, and not being aware could result in unfortunate accidents – and usually the end result does not bode well for the deer.
