Margaret embodies the philosophy of Epictetus, which is sorely missing in much of our daily and digital lives: embracing all the beauty in life without wasting time worrying about or trying to change what is beyond our control.

We would all do well to channel our inner Margaret. Let’s eschew everyday complaints and angry social media rants in favor of dancing, skiing and painting. We can delve into a good book, pen some poetry or simply take a stroll – while remaining optimistic and always seeking the good in everything around us.

How much better would our world be if we all embraced a little more of Margaret’s spirit?
