Durango School District 9-R administration and staff members moved into its new building on Monday at the Columbine Center.

The district announced last November that it found a new home for its administrative offices. The move comes nearly three years after the 9-R administrative building went on the market.

The Columbine Center is located at 281 Sawyer Drive, Suite 100.

The district purchased the site for $1.1 million, according to a November news release.

The district’s former location, 201 E. 12th St. in downtown Durango, is now closed to the public, according to a news blurb sent out by the district last week.

The city of Durango took over ownership of the previous building, which was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Departments moving to the new Bodo Park location include the superintendent’s office, executive team, communications, curriculum and instruction, student support services, human resources, finance, safety and security, and the Durango Education Foundation.

The facilities, custodial and technology departments have moved to the Parker Warehouse location in Bodo Park. The first board meetings were held at the Impact Career Innovation Center in February and will continue to be held there.
