Fenceline releases new red-fleshed cider in Colorado, Arizona

Maggie Corson and Sam Perry offer samples of Fenceline Cider’s beverages in 2019 at the Durango Farmers Market.

Herald Staff Report

Fenceline Cider has introduced a new bottle cider, the Spur Bearer. This cider is crafted from rare, red-fleshed apples that are close relatives of the wild apple forests of Kazakhstan.

At their core, these apples are crimson red, and their flesh has myriad wild flavors. With roots that stretch back to the Eurasian steppe, red-fleshed apples are hearty and well adapted for life in the arid West. This cider is complex, tart and tastes of summer melon and tropical pineapple.

“Historically, Fenceline has focused on making tannin-rich ciders. The Spur Bearer is our first “sharp” style cider and increases the scope of our orchard-based offerings,” said Sam Perry, co-founder of Fenceline Cider, in a press release.
