I am delighted that Bayfield High School’s football team received several articles prior to, during and after becoming the Colorado state champions this year. Reporting about local events is the strength of a small-town newspaper.

My concern is that when the Fort Lewis College mountain bike team was first place nationally, the competitors did not receive comparable coverage. Please help me understand why.

Durango definitely has many, many bicycle enthusiasts who would probably have enjoyed reading about these young people, their struggles and accomplishments.
