Pura Vida Healthcare to offer demo day

The practitioners at Pura Vida Healthcare will host a free afternoon of 20-minute sessions and classes from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at 160 E. 12th St., Suite 1.

Practitioners will offer mindfulness sessions, cranial sacral treatments, acupuncture consultations with optional ear acupuncture, Rolfing sessions, herbal-wellness consultations, pain-management techniques and Reiki sessions.

Classes that will be offered include: “Beat the Winter Blues” with Nicola St. Mary, a naturopathic doctor; “3 Minute Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Techniques” with Jordan Wildman, a holistic therapist; and “Food as Medicine for Cold/Flu Support” with Anna-Marija Helt, a clinical herbalist.

Depression-recovery program available

Introductory sessions for a depression recovery program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., and at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Participants will learn how to identify depression and its causes, improve emotional intelligence, enhance energy levels and mood, overcome depression through positive lifestyle choices, eat for optimal brain function, manage stress without distress, improve brain function and achieve peak mental performance.

The eight-week program will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Jan. 27 at the Columbine Christian School, 1775 Florida Road.
