Upper Pine holding two-car accident drill Friday

Upper Pine River Fire Fire Protection District will conduct a multi-casualty drill at the intersection of County Road 520 and 516 on Friday, June 19. One lane of County Road 516 will be shut down with law enforcement directing traffic. This is a training exercise involving the crash of two vehicles that will include six to eight simulated patients. The drill is to practice and evaluate the use of ambulance resources for a crash involving multiple victims. The drill will commence at 9 a.m. and is expected to be completed by noon.

The drill is an opportunity for local fire crews to practice their triage skills and extrication skills.

The exercise is being funded by the Southwest Regional Trauma Advisory Committee. Upper Pine River Fire, Los Pinos Fire, Durango Fire, LaPlata County Sheriff, Bayfield Marshall and will participate in the drill.
