Rafter J was awash with deputies and the Farmington bomb squad Wednesday morning, but it was a false alarm leading to an all clear.
“An elderly lady found a box in her garage, and it looked like dynamite,” said Lt. Ed Aber of the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office. “Her husband recently died, and she was worried that it might be dangerous.”
The Sheriff’s Office called in the Farmington Explosive Ordnance Detachment to handle the potential explosives, Aber said.
“It turned out to be three roped wires, not dynamite,” he said. “So there was no danger.”
