9-R teachers, staff members receive recognition
The Durango Foundation for Educational Excellence honored these teachers and staff members of Durango School District 9-R with awards that recognize the recipients’ dedication to education and ability to help students achieve their highest potential at a May 2 gathering:
9-R Staff Members of the Year: Diane Burress, Big Picture High School; John Durrschmidt, Facilities; and Susie Welch, Durango High School.
High School Teachers of the Year: Dan Garner and Shaun Smith both of Durango High School.
Middle School Teacher of the Year: Kim Osby, Escalante Middle School.
Elementary School Teachers of the Year: Cindy Buckley, Sunnyside Elementary School; and Cindy Tucson, Needham Elementary School.
The foundation received 201 nomination letters, recognizing 104 employees.
