SALT LAKE CITY – Utah ski officials are unveiling more details about their plans to build a series of chairlifts that would link seven resorts and give the state a European-style experience.
Ski Utah announced Tuesday it has chosen two of three locations for lifts that would be lynchpins in the plan to connect ski areas on different sides of the mountain. A third will be chosen later.
There is still no timeline for a project that is likely years away from coming to fruition.
The project, which officials committed to in April after decades of discussion, is expected to cost up to $30 million and be paid for by the resorts.
The plan is opposed by backcountry skiers and wilderness advocates who say more buildup will damage pristine areas used by outdoor enthusiasts.
