Music academies accepting applications
Music in the Mountains and 3rd Avenue Arts are accepting applications for two chamber music programs for youths to college-age students:
3rd Avenue Arts’ Durango Chamber Music Academy is for all string students (and a few pianists) ages 7-18. Week 1 will be June 9-13 and week 2 will be June 16-20. Each day of the academy is divided into ensemble-playing with coaching, group work by instrument and general music. All events will take place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Ave. The registration deadline is Saturday.
Music in the Mountains Conservatory is accepting applications for high school and college string students (violin, viola, cello and bass). There will be two weeks of music-making, lessons, master classes, pop-up performances throughout Durango and attending concerts during Music in the Mountains. The registration deadline is Saturday.

Music extravaganza to be held Wednesday
Music in the Mountains will showcase the talents of music students from Durango and Bayfield at the second annual School Music Extravaganza. The free concert will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Whalen Gymnasium at Fort Lewis College.

Casting call to be held in Farmington
Time and Tide Productions will hold an open casting call for “Far Too Far” from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at San Juan College in Farmington.
Most roles will be non-paid, with a select few paid positions. The following roles are needed:
Male, early 60s; male, 40s, male, 30s; Hispanic male, 20s to 30s.
Female, 7 to 8 years old.
Female, 40s.
Female speaking roles (lead), ages 24-31
Female, 50s to 60s.
Female, 60s to 70s.

‘I Said No’ to be held at Durango Arts Center
Susan Bennett will perform a one-woman show, “I Said No,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.
The show is about Bennett’s life choices and failures.

Seibel art on display at Ignacio gallery
The artwork of former Ignacio resident Harold Seibel will be on display at Dance Spirit Community Arts Center, 755 Goddard Ave. An opening reception will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Seibel learned the basics of drawing in fifth grade and developed a passion for art. The exhibit will showcase his work from 40 years.

Casting call for teen movie to be held
Perilous Productions will hold a casting call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
The company is seeking teenagers who are or look between the ages of 13 and 19 for an independent horror film that will be produced, written, directed, acted and released in Colorado.
The top 25 actors’ auditions and 10 bands or musicians will be uploaded to a website to be voted on by the public.
