Best bets this weekend include the Chili Chase 10K and Hogs 4 Paws.
Run for the Mountains Chili Chase 10K Trail Run and Chili Cook-off will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Backcountry Experience, 1205 Camino del Rio, in Durango.
Participants can run the 10K trail run over Hogsback and/or help judge the best-tasting chili while drinking beer from Ska Brewing Co.
The run goes over Hogsback and through Overend Mountain Park. After the race at 11 a.m., all runners will receive free entry into the Chili Chase Cook-off, featuring more than 20 dishes from local businesses and organizations.
Proceeds will benefit the San Juan Mountains Association’s efforts to promote local public lands conservation.

La Plata County Humane Society and Durango Harley-Davidson will host the second annual Hogs 4 Paws adoption and fundraiser event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Durango Harley-Davidson, 750 South Camino del Rio.
This family-friendly event will include adoptable dogs, local vendors, music by Rob Webster, a bouncy house and hot dogs for the kids.
