Dancing Spirit hosting art show tonight

Dancing Spirit Gallery in Ignacio will host a spring art show during March with an opening reception and potluck on Friday, March 10.

Entries must be delivered to the gallery in the ELHI Community Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday, March 6. The show is open to two and three-dimensional art and sculpture. The entry fee is $10 per entry with a limit of two entries. The pieces must have been created no earlier than 2015. Eligible artists must be age 18 or older. The show committee will determine suitability of subject matter.

At least one item should be for sale. There will be a 30 percent commission on sales, or 20 percent for Dancing Spirit members.

Local artist Chris Vandeleur will judge the show.

Cash prizes will be awarded in three categories - beginner, advanced, and professional. Professionals are defined as artists who sell their work, exhibit in a gallery, have entered or been accepted in shows, or teach their medium. Final determination of category will be by the juror and the show committee.

The reception and potluck will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. March 10. All are welcome. A special exhibit of Chris Vandeleur's work will be on display during the reception, and he will play some of his music.

The show will come down on April 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information is at 563-4600 or www.dancingspiritgallery.org.
