I am voting for the geek: Allison Aichele

Too often in this political climate, we must wade through the rampant hyperbole, half-truths, mistruths, and out-and-out lies as we choose between those running for office. This unfortunate state of affairs has trickled down from the national level to our local races. Even the race for county treasurer has not been spared.

Colton Black uses this strategy of distraction. He’d like to tell us he’s a “rancher” and that his family’s roots go back five generations; that somehow that qualifies him to be treasurer. But Black is all hat and no cattle.

The certifications that he likes to tout, certifications that allow him to trade in mutual funds and sell life insurance annuities, don’t qualify him for the office either.

Allison Aichele is running on her technical background and accomplishments. She has a degree in accounting and an MBA, she’s well versed in Colorado statute. Her presentations are full of the technicalities of the office, not attempts to make me feel warm and fuzzy or to trash her opponent.

So, me? I’ll vote for the geek – the one that is most qualified for the office: Aichele.
