The Pine River Library Summer Reading Program is expanding to new universes this year – it’s now a S.T.R.E.A.M. (Summer Technology Reading Engineering Arts Math) program. This year, the library will be hosting events Monday through Saturday – every day the library is open.
Everything will blast off with a Kickoff Party in the Library Park on Friday, May 31, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., complete with free balloon animals from Ruby Balloon and a free BBQ dinner for all.
There’s a great lineup: everything from astronaut training, actual rocket science, a family field day of outdoor games in the park, robotics, forensics, a self-defense class, and the showing of the throwback ’90s space classics “Space Jam” and “Fifth Element.”
The six-week program will end with a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing on July 20.
