Best bets this weekend in and around Durango

Best bets this weekend include the Durango Celtic Festival and Stillwater’s Night Out Dance Party and Fundraiser.

The Durango Celtic Festival kicked off its seventh season Friday, and will continue through Sunday. This year’s festival brings award-winning artists from a variety of Celtic countries to the stage, including SuperTrad, The Jeremiahs, Dave Curley, and Patsy O’Brien. Performances will take place at the Stater Hotel and Irish Embassy Pub throughout the weekend.

The festival will also offer workshops Friday and Saturday at the Strater downstairs and the Pub/Underground. The workshops cover topics of singing, songwriting, dancing, and playing various instruments. They are geared toward intermediate to advance levels, but beginners are welcome to attend and audit the workshops.

Festival-goers have the option to purchase three-day VIP passes for $100, daily passes ranging from $15 to $40, or workshop passes for $10 to $25. For more information or to purchase passes, visit www.durangocelticfestival.com.

The event will feature four live bands, including three of Stillwater’s own: Groove Casters, Soul What!?!? and Seven Sharp 11. Rounding out the live music will be Robby Overfield and The Breaks. In addition to live music, party-goers can also enjoy drinks and appetizers, and participate in a raffle.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Stillwater scholarships and programs. Tickets are $30 for one and $50 for two, and can be purchased through Stillwater’s website at www.stillwatermusic.org.
