Durango police responded to McDonald’s on Thursday night for a possible stabbing, but arrived to find the 29-year old victim too “intoxicated and uncooperative” to provide any details about the incident.
According to Durango Police Sgt. Bobby Taylor, authorities made contact with Dustin Begay around 12:30 a.m. Friday at the McDonald’s near Main Street and College Drive.
Begay had injuries sustained from an apparent stabbing to the side of the head and the back of the shoulder, Taylor said, but the wounds were non-life threatening.
However, as police questioned Begay to learn more information about the incident, Taylor said Begay refused to provide any details on who possibility stabbed him or where the incident occurred.
There were no suspects in the vicinity, he said.
“He (Begay) was very intoxicated and uncooperative,” Taylor said.
Begay was transported by ambulance to Mercy Regional Medical Center, where he also would not cooperate with hospital staff, Taylor said. As of Sunday, Begay was not listed as a patient at Mercy.
Taylor was unsure Sunday whether there is an active investigation into the incident. He said the report did not list Begay’s place of residence.
