Durango Community Recreation Center will host the Community Cares “Charging for Chad” 5k and 1-mile fun run beginning at 10 a.m. Feb. 22 at the recreation center, 2700 Main Ave.
Chad Rush is a lifelong resident of Durango and was recently diagnosed with a rare medical condition called spontaneous artery dissection with bilateral renal infarction. Rush was flown to Denver for treatment and, though his conditions are improving, he will remain in Denver for treatment. Rush is a husband and a father of three children.
It is free to join the race, but a $10 donation is suggested. All proceeds go directly to the Rush family. A free T-shirt will be available to the first 200 participants. Race-day registration will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. in the rec center’s Windom Room.
