The Journalism Education Association has named retired Durango High School teacher Barbara McLachlan as one of 13 recipients this year of a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The recipients will be honored Nov. 8 at the National High School Journalism Convention in Washington, D.C.
McLachlan retired in May after being adviser for the Durango High School student newpaper El Diablo. In 2012, she was named Teacher of the Year in Durango School District 9-R.
McLachlan also coordinated the Four Corners Press Day for high school media students for 18 years.
