Don Thomas’ recent letter, “
Council is diligently scrutinizing decisions made in the past as to how our tax money should be spent in the future.
Many of the decisions made in the last 12 years, especially by Parks and Recreation, were based on personal agendas by staff and approved by a past City Council that didn’t have the fortitude (or guts) to question what was being shoved down our throats. Sure, on the surface there were advisory board and public meetings, but frequently, options presented by staff were limited by hidden agendas.
Now, what were once supposedly generalized plans from years ago are being touted by staff as approved plans that must be adhered to no matter what.
This would be a mistake. Old processes were tainted, and besides, circumstances change.
Our new City Council should be applauded, not criticized, for their diligent work in re-evaluating such plans and the costs involved.
