100 years ago: Classified for-sale advertisements included “two exceptionally good 7-year-old jacks” from H. Cook, “300 high-grade Shropshire ewes, unsheared, with lambs at side from registered bucks” at Burns National Bank and “Carter Car in good repair at a bargain” from an unknown seller.

75 years ago: The fourth WWII draft registration concluded with a total of 1,300 men from Durango and La Plata County who enlisted for possible military service. Mayor John Fankhauser, Sheriff R. Bruce Sullivan, Police Chief Leo McCartney and many other Durango public officials were named among the enlisted.

50 years ago: Old books and trash caught fire near a vacant residence at 3040 West Second Ave. Firefighters extinguished the flames and reported no damages to the property.

25 years ago: A juvenile was caught trying to steal a 12-pack of beer from a beer truck parked across the street from Miller Middle School.
