Two Bayfield High School seniors are among the top in the nation, according to the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Rhiannon Harding is a semifinalist in the program, while Collin Jackson is a commended student.
Both scored more than 1,400 in last year's PSAT tests, earning them the honors.
Harding said she spends lots of time focusing on academics and is planning to study marine biology at Northeastern University in Boston. She is the daughter of Cate and Les Harding.
Jackson said he's not sure where he wants to attend college yet. He's the son of Danette and Sean Jackson.
More than 1.6 million juniors take the PSAT their junior year. About 34,000 commended students are being honored across the U.S. The top students in each state are chosen as the 16,000 semifinalists in the country, and 7,500 of them are selected as the finalists, making them eligible for $32 million in scholarships.
