Traffic was backed up for about an hour Tuesday morning on South Camino del Rio near Colorado Highway 3 as the result of a crash.
The accident occurred about 7:05 a.m. when a Volkswagen Beetle stalled or became disabled in the left northbound lane near the signaled intersection, said Ray Shupe, spokesman with the Durango Police Department.
The driver turned on her hazard lights and another vehicle stopped to help, also turning on hazard lights, Shupe said.
A third vehicle, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup, being driven by a 40-year-old woman from Aztec, rear-ended the 2004 Volkswagen Beetle, which pushed the car forward and caused minor injuries to the people who were trying to move the stranded car, he said.
They were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma apparently looked down, and when she looked up, it was too late to avoid the crash, Shupe said.
The driver was charged with careless driving causing bodily injury.
