The anti-Trump, anti-Trump-voter column by Dan Olson (“Thinking Green,” Herald, Nov. 17) should have some interesting repercussions. With people who have opinions similar to Olson’s rioting and destroying property in the larger cities, one would think that it might behoove the Herald to keep a lower profile.
But, you’re to be admired for your brass.
Think of the Trump phenomenon like this. A lot of people didn’t care for Trump but voted for him for the same reason that Durangoans rose up and voted down the plastic bag ordinance that our local Democrat councilors foisted on us. The Trump vote, as liberal Washington Post editor Charles Lane noted, had a lot to do with people simply being sick of liberals assuming that their every whim was what everyone should be forced to do. This election was not so much about Trump, as people like Olson think, as it was about people having had it with the Olsons and liberals of this world.
Instead of writing a hubris-filled column that was happily published by the Herald, perhaps Olson and the Herald should have considered the unthinkable – people are tired of their leftist authoritarianism.
