Town hall on state teacher shortage coming to Ignacio

In an effort to address the current educator shortage across Colorado, the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the Colorado Department of Education and the Ignacio School District will host a town hall meeting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Ignacio High School.

Educators, students, parents, community members and interested members of the public are encouraged to share their experiences and ideas for recruiting and retaining educators.

The town hall meetings are part of an extended outreach effort that will meet with groups throughout the state to develop an action plan and recommendation to the shortage. Legislation signed by Gov. John Hickenlooper in May requires the education departments to develop a collaborative action plan that will outline the necessary steps to resolve Colorado's educator shortage.

This meeting is one of 12 town hall meetings that have been scheduled around the state for the summer.

For those unable to attend, participation through an online survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q8ZZL8K.
