75 years ago: An advertisement for Wyat Toggery read: “Open-toe sandals. Fascinating open-toe sandals in white kid and fabrics. Styles that lead the summer fashion parade.” The shoes ranged from $1.98 to $6.
50 years ago: This item appeared in the section called Junior High Jottings: “Students are talking about: hop scotch and jump rope ... twitterpation, a malady usually caused by spring fever ... dandelions ... fruit chews ... the 80 degree temperature Monday that was made further unbearable by the fact that the heat was on all day at Smiley (groan).”
25 years ago: “Bodo Industrial Park will be home to a new National Guard Armory, thanks to a land swap that translates into good economic news for Durango. The La Plata County commissioners obtained 5 acres in Bodo by trading five county-owned acres in town to the Durango Industrial Development Foundation. The foundation, comprised of Durango bankers and businessmen, owns the unsold property in Bodo Industrial Park.”
