Drinking Water Week observed through Saturday

Colorado communities will observe Drinking Water Week through Saturday to recognize the importance of water treatment plant workers and certified operators, and how they support the health of Colorado residents and visitors.

The observance was proclaimed by Gov. John Hickenlooper to credit drinking water professionals for helping reduce the risk of waterborne disease outbreaks and providing safe drinking water.

Also, the state is offering $300,000 per year for three years to help schools test tap water for lead. Schools and districts can apply for up to $5,000 in funding to support taking samples. The application deadline is 2 p.m. June 15.
