Martin is devoted to her work, has the respect and affection of her pupils and fortunate is the youngster who gets his start in school under Miss Martin.”
75 years ago: “The Durango Safeway store is under a new manager as Gene Deacon who has been here for the past year will take charge of the La Junta store. Joe S. Folsom of Florence is the new manager of the local store.”
50 years ago: “Business continues brisk on the narrow gauge Silverton train. Agent Amos Cordova said 327 persons were carried on the train Monday, and 371 on Tuesday.”
25 years ago: “Amoco Production Company opposes La Plata County’s proposed oil and gas development regulations on two fronts – the ‘lengthy, burdensome’ approval process for oil and gas operations and the imposition of technological requirements on the industry. Instead, Amoco proposes the county adopt rules limited to administrative review of major facility performance standards.”
