We at the Durango Botanical Society held a seminar “Learning About Our Pollinators” on Aug. 28 at the Durango Community Recreation Center. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our speakers: Tina Sebesteyn, Four Corners Bee Association founder; Carol Tyrell, Colorado Master Gardener and expert in honey bee nutrition; and Ted Creighton, Colorado Master Gardener and native bee expert. They provided an informative session about how we can help our bees and all pollinators continue to thrive.
A thank you also goes to Durango Community Recreation Center for providing the space for the seminar and to The Durango Herald for its advertising support.

Staff members and the board of directors at Durango Arts Center, in conjunction with the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado, express tremendous gratitude to all who attended the Aug. 29 community concert in the Rochester Hotel Secret Garden.
Sponsored by Four Corners Community Bank, Rochester Hotel and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the evening was a hit! The extraordinary and beloved Six Dollar String Band filled the night’s air with the best old-time string music. Old friends of the DAC – the band was the recipient of the artist-in-residence program at Willowtail Springs in Mancos. Beau and Jenna Black with the Bookcase and the Barber created and launched DAC’s signature cocktail, “the Stanton,” in honor of local artist and teacher, Stanton Englehart.
For the Durango community of music lovers who appreciate great old tunes and a beautiful backdrop to enjoy them, there was no better way to spend a beautiful Colorado summer evening. The concert wrapped up a 10-week summer community concert series, which benefited 10 Durango nonprofits that were part of the Jumpstart Program, a professional development program provided by Network for Good and the Community Foundation.
Thanks to all who attended the concert series this summer and supported community nonprofits. We look forward to seeing you next year!
