100 years ago: Monroe Fields, upon his return to Aztec, reported improved conditions in his section; the farmers were “getting good prices for their products” and they planned to increase the acreage of crops and “find a ready market.”

75 years ago: A milk cow was sold for $100 at a Bayfield auction. Auctioneer Bob Oversteg claimed it to be “the highest price paid for a milk cow here in many years.”

50 years ago: Steve Martin was elected as the Fort Lewis College student body president over the only other candidate, Bill Armstrong, who lost by 100 votes of the 515 votes cast.

25 years ago: A gray clutch purse that had 10 lottery tickets inside it was stolen from the American Legion Hall, 878 East Second Ave.
