I would like to thank Greg Sykes, the Durango Parks and Recreation Forestry staff and Rich Hoehlein – the chair of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board – for their award to me for my service and commitment to Durango’s Urban Forest in 2018 during the 39th Arbor Day Celebration of April 19.
As the president of the Durango Botanical Society, it was my privilege to lead the DBS team in the installation of the Arboretum and Miniature Tree Garden on the north side of the library. This effort was supported by DBS board members, DBS docents and our volunteers who worked many hours to begin these new gardens.
Booklets describing these new gardens, and identifying the new trees, are available in the DBS display case next to the library circulation desk. Please stop by and pick up one of these booklets and walk around these new gardens.
Call DBS at 880-4841 to arrange a docent-lead tour.
