The Durango Herald accurately assessed that Seth Furtney’s breadth of experience will be useful.
Seth also has been studying the financial issues of the city. He can provide solutions to continue the forward momentum at city hall the past two years.
I support Melissa because she has made some great decisions: not supporting the bait-and-switch “streets tax,” not supporting another unneeded water rate increase, and hiring an excellent city manager who has no ties to the former management.
The other competitive candidates do not appear to be on board with the positive changes that have occurred. I don’t agree with every decision that City Council has made the last two years, but at least there is now an opportunity to sit down and examine potential common ground.
Seth and Melissa have shown their ability to have healthy discussions where different points of view are encouraged. This will be a close race. In order to continue the positive trajectory of our local government, please vote for Seth and Melissa.
