Spring cleanup in Durango starts Monday, ends May 4

The city of Durango spring cleanup will begin Monday and continue through May 4.

The city of Durango spring cleanup will begin Monday and continue through May 4.

Crews will pick up items from residential neighborhoods, including: furniture, large appliances, scrap metal, drywall, fencing, carpeting, tiles, open or dried paint cans, tree trimmings and branches less than 8 feet in length and less than 8 inches in diameter, and bagged or boxed loose brush and leaves.

Pickup times and locations include:

April 9-13: Areas south of 15th Street and west of Ninth Avenue, including residential areas along U.S. Highway 160 within city limits.April 16-20: Areas north of 15th Street to the north city limits, parallel to Main Avenue to the east and west, including the Animas City area. April 23-27: Westside subdivisions, including Crestview, Needham, Rockridge and Junction Street areas.April 30-May 4: Eastside subdivisions including Riverview, North College, Hillcrest and SkyRidge areas.Residents are asked to place materials in the alley for collection or on the curbside in areas where there are no alleys, separate piles of yard waste and scrap metal, ensure trash is secured in trash cans and keep items and brush at least 2 feet from fences, trees, bushes, gas meters, hydrants, power poles and connection boxes. If a pile cannot be safely picked up, it will be left in place.
