Install signs to explain industrial history

While we’re coming to terms (again) with the repercussions of our industrial age and its associated toxicity, now here amid our lovely nook, why not put up one of those nice interpretative/historical signs near the pile of glassy slag next to the Animas River Trail? Perhaps a diagram or explanation of how metals are refined from ore, leaving this voluminous mining waste. It must be harmless, as it is next to the El Río de las Ánimas Perdidas.

Hopefully, not much dissolution of the glassy material in that pretty slag pile, especially in a hard fall rain, has also been a source of potentially toxic metals released to our riparian wonder.

Who knows? It’s all water under the bridge now, eh?
