The city of Durango will conduct weed abatement through Friday. Areas that will be treated for weeds are: Goeglein ditch along North College Drive, city owned property on Borrego Drive and Oxbow Preserve.
Spot spraying for thistle will occur in turf areas at these parks: Animas City Park, Crestview Park, Confluence Park, Fassbinder Park and Memorial Park.
There will also be follow-up spot spraying through August at these locations.
The has contracted with Horizon Environmental Services for the weed abatement. The herbicides that will be used are: Milestone, 4LB Amine and Vista XRT, depending on species. Applications are conducted to improve the quality of rights of way, parks and open spaces in the city’s system. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and Horizon Environmental Services is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
