CNN’s 3-part series on Nuvaring delayed

News about POW release covered instead

In the news world, hot breaking news always takes precedence over features and investigative reports that can hold for a day or a week.

This week’s breaking news story is the prisoner exchange with the Taliban that has led to the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl after five years. The story has led to the postponement of the CNN three-part series on the Nuvaring, which was filmed during the last six months and was scheduled to begin airing tonight.

The series begins with the story of Durango High School graduate Erika Langhart, who died after suffering two heart attacks at the age of 24, which her family and some medical practitioners believe was caused by the third-generation hormonal contraceptive device.

Karen Langhart, Erika’s mother, said producers notified her today that the series had been postponed because of the Bergdahl story and accompanying controversy. They do not know if the series will begin airing Wednesday or if it will be several days, she said.
