A Law Enforcement Memorial Day will be held on Saturday. There will be a parade in downtown Durango beginning at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at noon at the Durango Recreation Center amphitheater, followed by a 2.5 mile roundtrip memorial walk. During the walk, there will be interactive booths and a community barbecue in Rotary Park.
The event includes a memorial for fallen officers. Free T-shirts will be offered to participants.

The Pine River Library will show the 2016 movie Passengers at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 26. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, the film tells the story of a space ship transporting thousands of passengers to a distant planet. A malfunction in the sleep chamber system accidentally wakes two passengers 90 years too early. Faced with a lifetime together, the two also have the safety of the other passengers in their hands. The program is free and there will be free popcorn, with candy available for purchase.

Leadership La Plata, the county's leadership development program, will host an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at the Pine River Library.

The Bayfield High School Knowledge Bowl Team will attend the National Academic Championship in Washington D.C. from May 31 to June 5.
Team members have worked concessions at baseball and basketball games, along with other fundraisers. They are asking for donations from the community. Donations can be made at the high school office or sent to the address below.

The La Plata County Board of County Commissioners is seeking public comment on proposed county commissioner district boundary line adjustments. Proposed maps are available online or at the La Plata County Clerk's Office, 98 Everett Street, Suite C, Durango, CO 81303.
La Plata County Clerk and Recorder Tiffany Parker will present the boundary adjustment options for public input at the following meetings:

Durango 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 31 at the La Plata County Administration Building, 1101 E. Second Ave.
Ignacio 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 8 Ignacio Community Library.
