The Colorado Native Plant Society will host a free talk about native plants from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The event will feature “Common Southwestern Native Plants: An Identification Guide,” a user-friendly, pictorial guide to hundreds of the Southwest’s most common native plants, most of which are ideal for use in gardens.
The authors have included valuable information about plant distribution and habitat, medicinal and wildlife uses, and big-tree records for many species.
The event is free and open to the public.
Signed copies of the book will be available for sale. A portion of the proceeds will go to the La Plata County Master Gardener Program.
