Local students attend National Science Foundation workshop

Local students Ellinore Porter and Risa Holmes of Durango attended a National Science Foundation workshop for careers in the Biodiversity Sciences, held Nov. 9 and 10 in Albuquerque.

The two-day workshop, held at The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science in Albuquerque, allowed students from across the Southwest to shadow museum professionals from the Natural History Museum and the Museum of Southwestern Biology on the campus of the University of New Mexico; learn about educational and internship opportunities in biodiversity science; the requirements for graduate school admission in areas of study including botany, zoology and wildlife management; and meet with professionals working in the field of biodiversity.
