50 years ago: Ignacio – “Southern Ute Tribal Council Chairman John E. Baker, a member of the council almost continuously since 1952, resigned his position. Baker said he will leave Ignacio next week to take up a college career in the study of political science at Arizona State University at Tempe.”
25 years ago: “The Durango City Council was to review a list of $58 million worth of projects outlined for a study session. Among the bigger projects foreseen in the next five years: expansion of the city’s reservoir for $3.2 million, a main sewer line the length of city for $2.3 million and improvements to Florida Road for $2 million.”
