City, Herald, trying to fool us on roads

I find this story about the streets in Durango going to pot an absolute joke (“What’s it like to live or work on a ‘very poor’ street?,” Nov. 28).

We have problems, but this story is a joke.

Every voter in Durango, please go and check out Weston Drive in person. Google its location and go look at this “street. This street is an alley, a barely-wider-than-one-lane alley, going east and west.

There are some alleys in Durango that are unpaved. I find it hard to believe that the city (and Durango Herald) are using this as a tool to get voters to vote for more taxes.

The city receives lots of tax revenue and does not spend it wisely. That is why the tax referendum on the last election did not pass.

Start with $10-$15 million for a new police station, not an open-ended $200 million boondoggle that has no focus on where, what , how or when the $200 million will be spent. The DPD needs and deserves a proper police station!

City council, show restraint and give the voters a plan for this one issue.
